What are infinitives? An infinitive is the verb in its most basic form. Infinitives are usually preceeded with 'to'. For example: to play, to eat, to jump... However, the infinitive form is not always preceeded with 'to'. For example: I play all the time. I eat all the time. I jump all the time. In these examples the infinitives are in bold.
