A compound noun is a noun made up of two or more existing words. In other words a compound noun is a noun + noun. These nouns can be with spaces, without spaces and with hyphens. The followng are examples of compound nouns: football, basketball, bus stop, firefly, airport, sweatpants, train station, headteacher, police officer, sunflower, classroom, pencil case, mother-in-law, rainfall...
