A common noun is generic name for a person (man, woman), animal (lion, monkey), place (road, park), or thing (table, sink). Common nouns are everywhere and we see them all over the place. A proper noun is a specific way of identifying something. For example, a person's name, place or organisation. Person's name: Terry, Sam, Anita. Place: London, New York, Vancouver.
