An adverbial is a single word (adverb), phrase (adverbial phrase), or a clause (adverbial clause) that can change an adjective, verb, or a complete sentence. In other words, adverbials are used to give more information about a verb. For example: Adverbial single word: Gary reads silently. Adverbial phrase: Gary reads with great composure. Adverbial clause: Gary reads as if he was a narrator because he has mastered intonation. In these examples, the adverbial, adverbial phrase and adverbial clause are in bold.
